How I learned to stop worrying and just stop smoking

After extensive cutting and pasting I came to the conclusion that there was no right or wrong way to quit smoking and that every person has different needs. My key concerns were:

  • Detoxing and flushing out the nicotine as quickly as possible
  • Dealing with the munchies, increased appetite and consequently weight gain
  • Having something to do with my hands
  • Stopping myself going mental

To combat these I have:

  • Consumed at least 3 litres of water a day
  • Stopped caffeine consumption
  • Gone a bit mental
  • Eaten loads of vegetables, nuts and seeds
  • Taken Cortitrim 3 times a day
  • Slept well

  1. in my opinion, stop worrying means avoiding stress. Stress coming from our mind. When we coudnt control our mind, then we become stress/worry. Stop smoking is also a mind game. We have to focus our mind for quit smoking.
    Yoga, taichi, or other meditation activity could become a cure when we do it properly.

  2. Personally I have stopped smoking for over a year now. I used Champix and Hypnotism (in MP3 format) to kick start my efforts but I also concur that drinking water (instead of lighing up) helps immensely

  3. Smoke Free for 7 years and helping others on their journey to a healthy life change.

    It was the hardest challenge for myself but I used the nictone patch system, which took some of the edge of the nictone withdrawel away.

    Also, I learned to stop looking at quiting in the “larger” picture and I broke it down into smaller steps. First hours, then days, then weeks, then months.

    I started paying closer attention to the positive changes I was experienceing, like my sense of smell.
    Boy did I notice within the first day or so how bad it smelled on those I pass in the hallways at work.

    Who knew???
