Beautifully created glass sculptures that remind me of Enid Blyton and carefree days. Constructed using toughened glass, shattered and re-built. There is a poignant story behind his thought process which you should discover for yourself.

My Sydney now invites you to add your photograph to the online exhibition through the community and photo-sharing website Flickr. The competition runs until 15 February 2008.

In the final months of the exhibition 20 finalists will be exhibited on a screen at the Museum of Sydney and the first three winning images chosen by the judges will also be made as prints to hang at the Museum of Sydney.

How to enter

1. Take a photo Go along to the exhibition Sydney Now to see the standard

2. Create a Flickr account.

3. Join the MySydneyNow Flickr group. Once you have a Flickr account, join Flickr group MySydneyNow

4. Upload your photo Add your photo to the MySydneyNow Flickr group through your browser, by email or in a number of other ways. Photos must be uploaded in jpg format, at least 1024 pixels on the longest side. If you become a finalist they’ll contact you to get a high res version for printing, preferably at A2 size (7016 x 4961).

5. Tag your photo Tag your photo with ‘MySydneyNow’ and add it to the map.

6. Fill in the entry form 

Easy as that…

The Sydney Stencil Festival has been and gone. As a keen follower of street art here in Sydney and also in Melbourne and London I had high hopes for simple, yet striking work. I was disappointed.  

The ‘live spraying’ was amateur at best and the works for auction were overpriced and far from inspiring. There were a few good pieces on show but all had been sold.  The guy running it, JP, needs a run for his money. This event can be bigger, better, more accessible and provide creative work we’d actually want to hang.  

Am I being to tough on them? No, and if you visited I suspect you’ll agree. I’ll post pictures from the day and you can make your own mind up.

I have often pondered this very question and pretty high up my list would be Theme from Cassanova by The Divine Comedy which is poignant and beautiful adn would be shortly followed by Staying Alive courtesy of the beardy Gibb trio.

Daniel Mudie Cunningham has also been asking this most personal of questions to artists and artworkers throughout 2007. Over 150 people answered it in all manner of ways that ranged from the profound to the playful. Some of the songs selected deliberately tug at the heartstrings, while others make you want to drop everything and dance.  

The idea for Funeral Songs is based in personal experience. Weeks before the artist’s brother unexpectedly died in 2000, he’d mentioned what song should be played at his funeral. Amid the grief, the song choice was forgotten. Now recalled several years on, the song features in Cunningham’s curated readymade archive of music you can live or die to.
